Inspiring through horticulture

In the summer of 2005 I was asked by Unwins the seed company to put together a collection of fruit and vegetable seeds suitable for children to sow, grow, harvest and finally eat.  At the end of 2005 I became involved with Woodsetts Primary school on a voluntary basis, raising a small amount of money and a large amount of interest developing an area to grow fruit and vegetables.  The project involves children throughout the whole school and is part of the curriculum and the lunch time gardening club.

I have since developed other sites at Wingfield Business and Enterprise College, Thrybergh Comprehensive School and Kelford special school. As well as teaching horticulture at these sites, I also lecture at Nottingham Trent University and run day long courses, offering practical help and advice to those who require it. My most recent projects include RISE (Rotherham Inter Schools Enterprise) and Rothermunch, a collaborative ‘grow your own munch and cook your own lunch’ campaign.
